A Year of Expansion: How YC World Is Establishing Its Place in the UK Risk-Tech Ecosystem
From uncovering hidden schemes featured by international media to government pilot programmes and recognition at UK technology awards, YC World has made significant progress over the past year. Twelve months ago, the international platform entered the UK market. Since then, it has become an integral part of the country’s risk-tech ecosystem. In-depth analysis of open-source data has demonstrated its effectiveness in identifying hidden corporate connections, sanctions-related networks and shadow fleets. As we mark our first year in London, we look back at the key milestones and explain how innovative analytics are helping shape new standards in international compliance.
The technology behind the platform
Today’s security environment makes one point increasingly clear: conventional manual counterparty screening is no longer sufficient. Material risk indicators can be buried deep within multi-layered ownership structures, nominee arrangements and opaque corporate schemes. Recognising this market need, YC World has evolved into a global risk-intelligence platform aggregating data from more than 350 open sources across 80 countries. Its coverage extends to more than 135 million individuals and over 127 million companies worldwide.
The platform’s architecture enables investigators and compliance teams to trace corporate relationships to unlimited depth through the Infinite Graph feature, while identifying risk indicators, including PEPs, sanctioned individuals and connections to high-risk jurisdictions, up to the third depth level. Automatic transliteration technology enables YC World to identify entities across multiple spelling variants of names, helping prevent assets and relationships from being overlooked because of linguistic differences or errors in international registers. The platform’s AI-powered extractor further accelerates investigations by instantly converting unstructured text, audio and video content, and PDF and CSV files into structured analytical graphs ready for further analysis.
“When we opened our London office a year ago, we understood that trust in such a demanding market could not be taken for granted. It had to be earned every day through the quality of our data, the strength of our technology and measurable results. It is particularly important to me that a Ukrainian product is now helping British businesses, law enforcement agencies and public institutions identify risks that previously remained hidden. This year was about much more than entering a new market. It was the year YC World genuinely began establishing itself within the UK risk-tech ecosystem. And this is only the beginning of our journey.”

Building trust: 100+ events, research and strategic partnerships
To strengthen transparency and resilience across the international business environment, YC World brings together sanctions screening, OSINT methodologies and in-depth corporate ownership intelligence. This integrated approach enables organisations to tackle anti-money laundering (AML) risks more effectively while identifying and minimising hidden geopolitical risks. As a result, the platform is a reliable solution for compliance and KYC professionals, senior executives (CEOs and COOs), business owners, government institutions and independent investigators.
Over the past year, the YC World team has participated in more than 100 industry events, exhibitions and conferences. This engagement has helped expand a strong international network of experts and partners while turning technology into a tool with real-world impact.
As trust in the market must continually be reinforced through action, the YC World team has published five international studies of public interest:
- “Ukrainian Entrepreneurs in the UK: IT, Consulting and Wholesale Sectors Overview 2026”
- “The revenue of Ukrainian companies with British co-owners amounted to UAH 311.2 billion in Q3 2025”
- “Almost 500 British companies are still doing business with Russia”
- “UAH 1.53 trillion in Q3 2025: the impact of Cypriot co-ownership on Ukrainian business”
- “Baltic States Generated More Than UAH 111 Billion in Revenue Through Ukrainian Businesses in Q3 2025”.
Recognising the societal value of open data, YC World consistently supports international journalism and anti-corruption NGOs. Analytical solutions provided by YC World and YouControl have formed the evidence base for more than 30,000 investigative publications. Major international media and investigative organisations, including the BBC, The Guardian, The New York Times, OCCRP, and Bellingcat, regularly use platform data as factual evidence and cite it in investigations.
The credibility of YC World’s analytics has also been reinforced at the institutional level:
- UK law enforcement agencies are piloting the platform for investigative and compliance purposes.
- The company has successfully undergone an independent audit, achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, and meets JOSCAR requirements – an important benchmark for organisations operating within the defence supply chain.
- YC World has held strategic discussions with UK government and defence sector representatives on adopting innovative security technologies.
- YC World has joined leading industry organisations, including techUK, Make UK, and the ADS trade association, as well as several UK defence clusters: LRDSC, ERDSC, NERDSC, SWRDSC, and WRDSC.
The wider technology and business community has also recognised YC World's expansion into the UK market. YouControl World won the 2025 Software Development Awards in the “Rising Star in Software Development” category and was selected as a finalist for “Best for AI Development”. The company is also a finalist in the 2026 Business Awards in the Corporate Social Responsibility category. In addition, YouControl World CEO Nataliia Chornohub was shortlisted for the #RISK Awards 2026 in the Financial Crime Prevention category in recognition of her contribution to tackling financial crime, money laundering and sanctions evasion. Together, these achievements demonstrate how the technology developed by YC World is helping strengthen trust, transparency and security across borders.
Partners working in international defence logistics report that the depth of YC World’s analytics enables them to distinguish genuine red flags from background noise and better understand the underlying nature of risk. They also note that the platform presents complex data in a structured and highly accessible format, reducing the time required to assess complex counterparties by as much as several days.
Looking ahead: Helping shape the next generation of international standards
YC World’s first year of active operations in the UK has shown that the market is ready to adopt innovation in security and compliance when reliable data and practical, user-oriented technology underpin it. The next stage of the company’s growth will focus on further expansion across Europe, alongside deeper cooperation with corporate clients, law enforcement agencies and the EU defence sector.
The ambition for year two extends beyond growing the customer base. YC World aims to contribute directly to the development of emerging international standards in risk intelligence and sanctions compliance. To support this objective, the team is actively engaged in policy dialogue, working with regulators and industry experts to advance the use of open-source data as a standard component of business and national security frameworks. Combined with YC World’s educational initiatives, including the continued development of YouControl Academy for OSINT practitioners and investigative journalists, this approach is designed to support a more transparent, resilient and secure European business ecosystem.
“The next stage of YC World’s development is our transition towards an AI-driven risk intelligence system capable of handling a significant share of complex analytical work. Our objective is for AI to go beyond simply finding information and begin understanding its context: automatically extracting entities and relationships from documents, media and open sources; cross-referencing them against official registers, sanctions lists and corporate data; constructing relationship graphs; and explaining precisely where the underlying risk lies.
Our next step is to make these investigations faster, deeper and accessible not only to large specialist analytical teams.”
